Textbook pg. 61 no.18

18. Determine the mean of each set of numbers. Express your answer to the nearest hundredths, if necessary.

a) 0, -4.5, 8.2, 0.4, -7.6, 3.5, -0.2

b) 6.3, -2.2, 14.9, -4.8, -5.3, 1.6

The mean is the average you're used to , where you add up all the numbers and then divide by the number of numbers.

Example:




Note that the mean isn't a value from the orginal list. This is a common result. You should not assume that the mean is one of your original numbers.

b) Find the mean of:
6.3, -2.2, 14.9, -4.8, -5.3, 1.6
